Oracle recently announced the ability to upgrade your Grid Infrastructure and database on the Oracle Base Database Service from 19c to 23c. You can find more details about this update here and here.
However, some people have asked if they can use AutoUpgrade to upgrade the database. The short answer is yes, but there are a few caveats. The BaseDB service is designed to support a single Oracle Home and a single database instance (I’m not talking about RAC 🙂).
You can use AutoUpgrade if you plan to utilize refreshable clone PDBs.
Daniel wrote a blog post explaining it step by step.
Happy upgrading 🙂
